Job description

Our Investment and Fund Administration team is looking for a new Portfolio Reporting Intern to support them during an internship of 6 to 12 months from August or September 2022. This office-based role would be well suited to a recent graduate or someone who would like to broaden their experience in the Private Equity industry. The role is both broad and varied and you will work alongside the Junior Portfolio Analyst whilst reporting to the Operations Director. We are looking for strong academics, excellent data analysis skills and it is very important the candidate is both confident and has an eye for detail.

Please DO NOT apply for this role if you will be in education while working. Given the workload you will receive at IK, it will not be possible to manage both.

The Role

Support the portfolio monitoring and valuations process

  • Work alongside the Junior Portfolio Analyst with monthly monitoring of c. 60 portfolio companies. Review portfolio company performance and present any findings, highlighting anything that needs to be investigated further
  • Assist the team with maintaining and managing the portfolio monitoring tool (Dynamo), which is the software platform used to automate the production of monthly reports and analysis
  • Work alongside the Junior Portfolio Analyst to improve the quality of Dynamo and efficiency of processes to increase high-quality output
  • Attend calls with auditors and provide supporting documentation for the valuation process such as one-off item analysis, valuation inputs etc
  • Assist with the production and updates of Quarterly and Annual Valuation Reports with the use of Adobe InDesign
  • Assist with collating quarterly covenant calculations
  • Other ad hoc duties include providing support on slides for meetings and investor queries

Job requirements

Our Expectations

  • Relevant academic focus, e.g. finance or accounting with excellent track record
  • Prior first work experience is preferable
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to develop meaningful relationships
  • A proactive and hardworking approach, ability to cope with very busy periods at certain times of the financial year
  • Very strong Excel and general technology skills. Naturally analytical. Adapt at gathering and manipulating data
  • Experience of report writing
  • Understanding of audit processes
  • Advantageous but not essential : Knowledge of the Dynamo Portfolio Monitoring System
