University Summer Technology Internship

We’re working with an energy company to repopulate coral reefs, and we developed an AI chatbot to provide instant answers to tax questions for a leading engineering company. And, in the early days of COVID, a couple of employees took it upon themselves to create an app that helped track ventilators across stretched healthcare systems.

What is Avanade’s Summer Internship all about?

Our Summer Internship programme has been created for students in their penultimate year of study (Year 2 of Undergraduate degree or final year before a Master’s degree).

During your 8-week internship program, you will have the opportunity to experience our culture, build your network and apply your university studies, while gaining real-world experience. You will spend 8 weeks taking on a variety of technology and / or sales related roles within Avanade, with opportunity for internal engagement and work alongside Avanade’s global intern community too.

  • Client work: you will be working as part of Avanade’s live project teams consulting with our clients on market leading technology solutions.
  • Soft skills training: you will receive soft skills training and networking opportunities to help you learn the roles for confidently delivering advice to customers in the future.
  • Your network: Your will have an assigned Intern Lead and Buddy through the programme but also throughout your career at Avanade should you return next year.
  • The Avanade Foundation Group: As an intern, you will be part of a wider early talent program sitting alongside other recently onboarded graduate programs in our Avanade Foundation Group (AFG). The AFG directly supports young people across the company ensuring high quality and sustained training, mentoring, support and social engagement. The AFG is a springboard for networking and engagement as you start out at Avanade, integrating you closely with others across the entire business.
  • Progressing in your career: you will have the opportunity to complete Microsoft Certifications during your internship. Then, once completing a 8 weeks with Avanade, your assigned Intern Lead will be on hand to help you decide where you want to go next with your career at Avanade. You will have the opportunity to understand what graduate opportunities are on offer for September 2023 and beyond.

Who are you?

A student in your penultimate year of study due to graduate June 2023.  You may be completing second year of undergraduate degree or in your final year before beginning a Master’s Degree. Some of the below resonates with you…

  • Desire to pursue a career in technology (technical or sales)
  • Readiness to engage with a two-month internship (largely in person – London based
  • A creative mind and collaborative spirit
  • Ability to adapt and apply existing skills to new learning and technologies
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Willingness to develop excellent communications skills (your role may develop into client facing positions, so a positive attitude to great communication is important
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to work on different projects and locations
  • Aptitude and willingness to begin to develop skills in some or all of the following Microsoft technologies: Azure / DevOps/ O365 | Python | Java or C++ | UML | Cloud Technologies | AGILE and SCRUM methodologies

Salary and Package:

You will earn £3,200 during the two months.

As part of this, you will be expected to be in the London office in person for the majority of the 8 weeks- it is important to us that we can get to know you. Exact working week framework will be communicated later in the process.
