The 12 week summer placement offers real insight into our business. From the outset you will be a part of a team, performing a role within that team and facing real business challenges. The summer placement program will allow you to learn about the life cycle of a trade by performing a role within a team. You will also be expected to apply your skills and knowledge in exploring opportunities for potential automation and process efficiencies. There are a number of opportunities across Operations which we will be looking to fill with candidates who have the relevant skills for each of those roles. During your internship you will experience working life at ICBC Standard Bank, amongst experienced professionals where you will obtain hands-on experience, relevant skills training and valuable professional networking. You will be supported throughout the internship by being paired with a buddy from the Operations department and will also work with the other summer placement interns on group projects. The role that you will be assigned as part of the summer placement will be determined based on your strengths and skills identified in the interview process and where your skills / experience will be best utilised.

During the 12 week programme you will:

• Have exposure to teams across Operations which will enable you to obtain a good understanding of what Operations does and the processes that are performed and managed.
• You will be supported and developed both in terms of business knowledge, gaining skills and experience which will be invaluable as you start your career within the financial services industry.
• You will have the opportunity to understand functions outside of Operations via your team placement
• You will be supported by a day to day line manager, a buddy and you will form a network with other interns across the bank
• You will be expected to produce a presentation and deliver this to the Operations Management team at the end of your programme

• Provide Operational support within your team – you will be given the opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the processes and systems within the team as well as gain exposure to a variety of products. This will require high levels of attention to detail, a results-focused mindset and you must be capable of delivering in a high-pressured environment.
• The role(s) requires a strong focus and you will be expected you to build knowledge of the operational controls we perform and to understand the requirements of our clients ensuring that at all times we are keeping operational risk to a minimum.
• In supporting your team in their daily business activities you will be required to look at potential opportunity for efficiency gains and make suggestions for process improvement.
• There will be the opportunities to work on projects within your team and the wider Operations function including Regulatory change programmes where activities such as information gathering, data analysis and testing will be undertaken
