About CDPQ


Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) is a long-term institutional investor that manages funds primarily for pension and insurance plans and holds CAD 390 billion in net assets as of June 2021. As one of Canada’s leading institutional fund managers, CDPQ invests globally in major financial markets, private equity, infrastructure, real estate and private debt.

The Intern helps the team achieve its objectives by conducting various analyses, creating briefing notes and presentations and supporting the team in the overall management of strategic relationships with banks and partners. The Intern will have the opportunity to develop a global view and general knowledge of the primary activities undertaken by an institutional investor such as CDPQ across all asset classes.

Main responsibilities

  • Collaborate on analyzing and drafting documents on positioning and operational and strategic orientations.
  • Analyze and develop content to ensure the understanding of complex files.
  • Contribute to drafting reports for senior management, including briefing notes, documents to support decision making and presentations.
  • Conduct in-depth research on business relationships with existing and potential CDPQ investments.
  • Contribute to various cross-functional aspects such as developing country strategies, considering sectoral themes (energy, climate change, technology, etc.), ESG, Québec’s economic development, etc.


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree student in law, political science, economics or business administration
  • International studies is an asset
  • Proficiency with computer tools, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent proficiency of English and French, both spoken and written


  • Interest in all asset classes and the financial institutions sector
  • Skilled at writing and creating presentations
  • Fast learner and intellectual curiosity
  • Analytical
  • Autonomous and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable with quantitative/qualitative analysis and processing financial data
