Candidate Preparation Hub Our Candidate Preparation Hub is a great place to start before completing any of the assessment. It provides further information on our strengths-based approach and hints and tips on how to best prepare for the assessment. We hope you find it useful. https://www.cappfinity.com/global/preparation-hub/

Due to the technical nature of this graduate scheme, you’ll need a good understanding of at least one modern programming language or framework, a love of technology and a strong will to learn. At the Technical Test stage, you will be asked to complete assessments which will assess this knowledge.
We recommend you review practice tests to see whether you have the relevant technical skills before you make your application. The relevant practice tests are lesson numbers 1-4 and 16-17 – https://app.codility.com/programmers/lessons/1-iterations/

Please note that the tests in the application process will not be identical to these, but by taking the practice tests you’ll get an idea of the skills we are looking for and whether this is the right scheme for you.

Our graduate schemes may close early if we receive a high number of applications, so it’s best to apply as soon as you can.

If you have any questions, please do contact the team at lloydsbankinggrouptalent@peoplescout.co.uk.

Job Description

Use your love of learning and innovation to build products and services for millions of people across the UK.

Closing date: 29th October (Phase 1)

We run our Software Engineering Graduate Scheme application process in phases, with a reduced number of roles within each phase – to ensure your application is in with the best chance of securing a role, please ensure you submit your application as soon as possible.

Duration: 2 years

Location: Across the UK
Mainly in Bristol, Edinburgh, London, Manchester and West Yorkshire hubs.

Robotics, machine learning, cloud technology. Just a few examples of the innovative technology we invest up to £2bn in each year. And it’s no wonder. We’re the UK’s largest digital bank, serving over 25 million customers, with 17.4 million of them being active online users. And due to our commitment to technological transformation, in 2020 we were named Euromoney’s Best Digital Bank in Western Europe.

With each new development, we need to remain laser-focused on our customers and their changing needs. And that’s where our Software Engineers come in. Their role is to help us in our mission to build the bank of the future, by developing software and services that improve people’s banking experiences.

If you’re passionate about technology and you love playing with code, Software Engineering could be for you.

Our Software Engineers are collaborative by nature. Working within a specific business area, they’re transforming banking to meet our customers’ needs and support the UK’s economic recovery. As well as being strong communicators and great team players, they’re keen to always keep learning. If that sounds like something you can relate to, this is the scheme for you.

Over two years, you’ll gain a fantastic insight into the variety of software engineering roles and opportunities we offer.

You’ll join a different team on each of your three rotations and experience a diverse range of projects. You could be working on large-scale projects, writing code in different languages and creating DevOps pipelines, building new features for our mobile app or creating a robot that automatically restores our core banking services.

Whatever the challenge, you’ll learn about using agile and waterfall methodologies, and see first-hand the difference your contribution can make when you work as part of a collaborative team.

Supported by your Software Engineering Lead, you’ll have the opportunity to take up extra learning – such as cloud training and certification courses. You’ll also have the chance to network with other engineers at our hackathons, which are sponsored by partners such as Google, Microsoft and IBM.

As well as kickstarting your career, this graduate scheme is designed to help you grow in an area you really enjoy.

Various options available based on your individual development requirements.

    • Developing your coding skills using languages like JavaScript, C# and Python
    • Helping to automate processes that save colleagues and customers time
    • Testing new software to make sure it provides a seamless customer experience
    • Stress-testing mortgage journeys and finding ways to improve them for customers
    • Helping build customer service infrastructure that’s used in branch

A 2:2 degree or above in any discipline from any university, and PhD and Masters students are also welcome.

Due to the technical nature of this scheme, you’ll need a good understanding of at least one modern programming language or framework, a love of technology and a strong desire to learn.

Our graduate schemes are rotational, with our Software Engineering roles predominantly based in our Bristol, Edinburgh, London, Manchester and West Yorkshire hubs.  Rotations could either be in one hub or several throughout the duration of the scheme, depending on individual development requirements and circumstances.
