  • Neuberger Berman is running an eight-week Summer Internship Program between the months of 27th June to 26th August 2022.  We are looking for enthusiastic team players with a desire to work on a wide variety of projects.  Below is further information on several internships.  This is not a rotational program, however we will be hosting a variety of training sessions and events to help you gain insight to our global business.

London – UK Consultant Relations

    • Database management (inputting meeting notes, pulling reports etc)
    • Management presentation construction (creating MI – similar to FI summit, equity info for MM etc)
    • Meeting notes
    • Market mapping
    • Competitive analysis

London – Operations

    • Supporting the Trade Support team with their daily duties
      • Trade matching and Broker chasing
      • Reviewing our data checks
      • General Settlement admin
    • Supporting the European Regulatory Reporting Team with their daily duties
      • Manually reviewing unmatched Trades
      • Chasing brokers for missing trades
      • General Regulation support

London – Funds Client Services

The Funds Client Service team covers a multitude of functions and manage significant global relationships with both internal and external stakeholders such as administrators, external asset managers, distributors, private banks, etc. The successful candidate will participate in the team’s day to day processes, such as investor onboarding, fund launches, distributor oversight and investor query management. We have also identified three key projects for this program which cover a wide range of the roles and responsibilities within the team:

    • Share class closure project
    • Assisting in the clean-up process of rebate vs non-rebate paying share classes
    • UK platform matrix mapping

London – Fund Oversight

We will decide on a main project for them nearer the time (it might be around transaction cost exceptions) but we will focus on teaching them:

    • Swing pricing
    • Distributions
    • Share class requests and registrations
    • TERs
    • EMTs

London – Private Equity

    • Analyse and conduct comprehensive due diligence on potential primary fund investments, secondary fund investments and direct equity co-investment opportunities
    • Gather information and conduct extensive research on private equity investment opportunities
    • Perform in-depth valuation analysis of private equity portfolios and private companies
    • Assist in the preparation of due diligence materials for the investment committee
    • Meet with investment professionals of private equity firms
    • Monitor investments and prepare investor updates
    • Assist in the preparation of marketing materials, investment reporting and responses to client-driven requests for information
    • Assist in special projects involving product development, market studies, asset allocation analyses, forward calendars of investments, or other

London – Information Technology

    • Draft regular updates on a portfolio of projects.
    • Participate in requirements gathering for project initiations.
    • Assist in identifying key risks and issues for projects.
    • Lead small initiatives.

London – Insurance Analytics

    • Student in penultimate year of study with good skills in university-level maths/ statistics/ computing; with a view to become permanent hire upon graduation.
    • German/English bilingual speaker preferred.
    • Support EMEA client presentations: market intelligence, peer analysis, recent regulatory and accounting matters, and a variety of client-specific analysis
    • Learn to model the risk/return of investment asset classes and impact on an institutional balance sheet, using both Excel and in-house modelling tools
    • Contribute where possible to the team’s in-house modelling infrastructure built in various programming languages
    • Willingness to learn on-the-job and take the CFA exam (or actuarial qualification exams) long-term

London – EMEA Sales

The EMEA family office team is responsible for managing relationships with single and multi-family offices across EMEA. This complex group has different needs and requirements with regards to the strategies in which they invest and the day-to-day client servicing. The internship will be a good opportunity to gain exposure to a broad and varied client base that invests widely across equities, fixed income, and alternatives. Responsibilities will include assisting with:

    • Competitive analysis
    • Database management (assisting with Salesforce administration)
    • Market mapping & prospecting
    • Updating marketing materials (such as information on the family office platform)
    • Client follow-up requests

London – Multi Asset/Equity


    • Analyse multi-asset marketplace and biggest competitors, comparing to NB MA offering, identifying opportunities/differentiating features
    • Projects to help promote multi-asset funds internally and externally
    • Work on Multi-asset ESG project – analysis of ESG metrics for existing portfolios/ esg integration framework/ esg Multi-asset fund/ updating collateral
    • Help build generic and bespoke material for multi-asset mandates including public/private capabilities


    • Assess institutional equity market and position NB strategies accordingly.

London – Risk

    • Gain an insight into the investment risk function and learn how to analyse risk for a portfolio
    • Develop an understanding of quantitative risk models through conducting back-testing and analysing results
    • Support the team in factor risk trend analysis across portfolios
    • Support the team in preparing reports for relevant markets/macro indicators including ESG
    • Collaborate with teams based in EMEA and the US as part of the wider Risk function

London – Product Strategy

Market Intelligence

Assist in ongoing SFDR/ESG research as the market and peer group develops Deep dive on key peers Research into private markets, in particular “democratised” products: ELTIF, semi-liquid solutions Joint projects between Market Intel and Marketing

Product Development

Assist in the preparation of annual product reviews New products: support in the drafting of product proposal papers including investment process description, fee analysis Participation in new product launch onboarding meetings Template review; product specification documents, MIFID II Target Market Analysis matrix, Benchmark matrix Maintenance of regional Product Development Pipeline

London / Netherlands – Emerging Markets Debt 

    • Analyse fundamental credit characteristics of Corporates and Banks from Central & Eastern Europe, Africa and Middle East (CEEMEA) issuing USD bonds.
    • Consider different sustainability features (ie Climate Change, EU Taxonomy) and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) characteristics in the overall Risk assessment of the issuers in the investable universe.
    • Assist in the preparation of investment cases, including business, financial, sustainability, bonds’ relative value and suggested positioning, and discuss them with the analysts and PMs.
    • Monitor investments across portfolios, confirming positioning vs the bonds’ tightening potential.
    • Support Analysts in ad-hoc projects and reports to customers to help enhance and promote EMC Debt strategy internally and externally.
    • Good Excel and Power point skills.
