About Us

Kaplan International Pathways, a division of Kaplan Inc., offers life-changing study opportunities for international students from more than 100 countries around the world. Our university preparation programmes provide a blend of English language training, academic modules and study skills to ensure that students have the skills they need to progress to and excel on undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes at leading universities. We call these programmes ‘Pathways’.

We currently have 10 Pathways colleges in the UK, as well as numerous locations across the US, Australia and Asia Pacific. In fact, if you gained a degree from a UK university, the chances are that you’ve studied alongside some international students who came through a similar route before entering their degree programme.



For several years now, we’ve been a committed and successful provider of internships for sandwich placement students from a range of universities. We are now to looking to appoint a Finance intern for the next academic year 2021-2022 with a start date of 1st July Initially based from home until we transition back to office working, you’ll be joining our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team.

We are looking for someone who is keen to gain invaluable accountancy experience in entry level work in an FP&A team and who enjoys broad variety in their work. It is principally a Management Accounts role providing accounting support to our US and UK Pathways Businesses and our Head of Financial Planning and Analysis. From an FP&A perspective, the role will have responsibility for supporting with month-end reporting, helping to create the reports that are sent to the business, supporting with variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany reconciliations.



Main areas of focus for the role

  • Processing accounting transactions for US Pathways and Global Marketing.
  • Performing accounting analysis to help the business understand and manage its costs.
  • Performing accounting reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist in the production of monthly finance reports, which are sent to the business with commentary on business performance.
  • Supporting on finance work in budgets and forecasts.
  • Ad-hoc project work

We are keen for you to contribute ideas on ways of working and will give you opportunities to influence decisions about how we do things.



About you

  • Strong motivation for undertaking an internship, with ability to articulate your goals.
  • Studying for a degree in business, accounting/finance.
  • Interest in business, accounting and finance, customer service, systems
  • Ability to use Excel.
  • Ability to work in a post where numeracy, attention to detail and data analysis are core functions of the role.
  • A strong and proven commitment to teamwork ethos
  • Ability to work to deadlines and multi-task
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to listen and respond to each situation as appropriate.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new skills.
  • Solution-finding mindset
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to follow set processes.
  • Self-disciplined and accountable for producing high-quality work, without supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to investigate problem areas with an inquisitive mind.
