Your Impact:
Jacobs Digital is a team of developers, incubation, product and technology solution experts who are driving digital change across Jacobs and our clients. We’re customer and user focused, where digital starts with culture and new ways of working, driving new business models, whilst incorporating technology and data into all our services and solutions.

About the opportunity
Jacobs across the UK and Ireland is committed to early careers and recently launched a new internship programme in several offices. This programme is aimed towards undergraduates who are either approaching their final year of study or have completed a principal degree and have a gap before starting a postgraduate course.  We have an opportunity for GIS Interns to join our Digital team, to be based in Manchester, Birmingham, Manchester or London, starting Summer 2021 for 3 months. If Covid restrictions still apply the role will be fully or partly carried out remotely rather than in the office. Please state your preferred office location in your cover letter.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
The role is required to work alongside members of the Geospatial team within Digital and undertake tasks with a range of data capture, analysis, visualisation and compliance technologies. In doing so, you will provide critical input to delivering projects on time and budget.

With exposure to an expanding range of market sectors and an extensive knowledge pool, you will deliver dynamic, innovative solutions to internal and external clients by thinking both logically and creatively.

You will join a community of interns in the summer period and work under our programme called Jacobs Campus. This programme will allow you to work with a mentor to identify areas of learning and to build up a portfolio of skills. There will also be opportunities to network through your community of interns and across the wider Jacobs structure, finding out about new disciplines and areas of work.

Why Jacobs?
We clear the way for inventive thinking, so you have the support, means and space to deliver the boldest solutions for the extraordinary and every day. Jacobs. A world where you can.

Our Culture:
We’re invested in you and your success. Our values stand on a foundation of safety, integrity, inclusion and diversity. We put people at the heart of our business and we truly believe that by supporting one another through our culture of caring, we all succeed. We value positive mental health and a sense of belonging for all employees.

We aim to make inclusion and diversity core attributes of our identity, embedded in all our employment and business practices in all locations. We know that if we are inclusive, we’re more connected, and if we are diverse, we’re more creative.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Currently enrolled in penultimate year studying for a degree in a relevant subject (e.g. GIS, Geography, Computer Sciences) or due to complete undergraduate degree this academic year and intend to then start a postgraduate course
  • Working knowledge of desktop GIS software, ideally ESRI ArcGIS
