About the Role

This role is a 10 week internship (based on business need) based in our London office, with the requirements of the successful candidate to work from the office at least 2-3 days a week. The role is a full-time role, 5 days per week Mon – Fri.

We are seeking a highly motivated and technical minded analyst intern to join our analytics department.  This paid internship opportunity will allow you to gain hands-on experience in analysing customer data, contributing to strategic discussions, cost reduction initiatives and process improvements. You will take end to end ownership of a specific project that focusses on supporting the enhancement of the Existing Customer Management processes.

Internship Project:

During your internship, you will work on an end-to-end project that aims at enhancing the ECM’s reporting and forecasting capabilities.

As part of our payment performance monitoring process, the Analytics team is providing, on a monthly basis, a view of the latest actual payment performance and a short-term forecast of expected delinquencies and credit losses. Your project will consist in:

  • Creating a risk-based forecast, making sure predictions are not only based on historical performance, but can also take into account recent strategy changes that might impact our portfolio’s payment performance.
  • Normalizing the forecasting methodology ensuring it is replicable and usable for all Jaja’s products.
  • Extending the forecast horizon to be able to take actions in a timely manner if need be.
  • Optimising and automating the enhanced process to reduce manual work at beginning of months.

This project is a great opportunity to extend knowledge and enhance your skills in the following ways:

  • Getting more comfortable using tools such as SQL, Tableau and Excel as you will be using these as part of your project.
  • Gaining business knowledge around Credit Card and Payment Performance monitoring as you will be dealing with industry-specific KPIs and data.
  • Understanding external teams’ focuses and priorities as these forecasts are shown to and used by multiple stakeholders across Jaja, and serve as a base to assess internal performance.

Existing Customer Management:  

The ECM team provides ongoing support to our portfolio of customers with various lending needs and digital capabilities.
Our responsibilities include:

  • Design and monitor profitability models that ensure Jaja is taking the right decisions throughout the lifecycle of its products.
  • Design and test strategies that drive revenue generation with specific focus on the regulatory environment, ensuring good outcomes for our customers (Credit Limit Increases and Balance Transfers).
  • Monitor and forecast the portfolio performance, working closely with the New Business Origination team as well as the Collection team to make sure credit losses stay within Jaja’s risk appetite.
  • Support on initiatives driving cost reduction, process optimisation as well as business growth.

About You

  • Recently completed or currently pursuing a degree in a relevant field such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or Business
  • Interested in data analysis, data visualization, and experience with manipulating and analysing data. Previous use of one or more of the following software would be great (Excel, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Google Sheets etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbally
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn and apply new skills.
  • Understanding of programming languages is a plus (SQL, R, Python, MATLAB, Java, C# etc.)
