Job Reference                                  #293143BR

City                                                       London

Type                                                      Intern Analyst (Pipeline)

Your role

2024 Off-cycle Intern Program – Global Banking Global Lending Unit (GLU)

Are you a strong analytical thinker?

Do you enjoy developing pitch ideas for a broad range of clients – from corporates or large institutions to professional family offices?

Are you an innovator who loves to solve problems and collaborate with different functions across the bank to get transactions across the line?

We’re looking for an off cycle intern to:

• offer support during each stage of a transaction’s life, from origination to execution to ongoing maintenance of bespoke financing solutions and corporate equity derivatives
• develop pitch book presentations to explain the team’s offering, discuss client options and recommend strategies to meet client goals
• generate new ideas and creative approaches that push the business forward
• identify and meet client needs, coordinating and working alongside senior colleagues and other divisions

Your team

You’ll be working in the Global Lending Unit in London. Our EMEA team is responsible for delivering bespoke financing solutions and corporate equity derivatives to our clients across Investment Banking and Wealth Management.

You’ll play an important role in pitching and execution of transactions as well as covering clients. The Global Lending Unit is divisionally agnostic, covering clients across Investment Bank and Wealth Management. You’ll therefore get exposure to a broad range of situations and transactions, for example, structured lending or strategic equity solutions (strategic stakebuilds, disposals, hedging, equity-backed financing).

We are a team with an entrepreneurial and proactive approach and flat organizational structure, working closely with a large variety of clients in different jurisdictions, IB traders, Client advisors, control functions and in a dynamic environment where collaboration is key to deliver bespoke solutions to our clients.

Diversity helps us grow, together. That’s why we are committed to fostering and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. It strengthens our business and brings value to our clients.

Your expertise

Please be mindful you can only make one application per academic year in the EMEA region (excluding Switzerland)

You need to be in the penultimate or final year of your degree, or recently graduated but no more than 6 months from the start date of the internship. In addition, you need to have or be on track for a 2:1 (UK grading system) or the equivalent in your first undergraduate degree.

It doesn’t matter what you’re studying. (Really, it doesn’t.) But we’d like to see evidence that you can:

– analyse a problem, take a view and come to a decision
– plan, organise and communicate well
– make things happen
– stick with a task
– work in a team
– come up with ideas

Perhaps you’ve organised a fundraising event or taken part in team sports? Or persevered and passed an exam in a subject you found challenging? Think about how things you’ve achieved match the skills we’re after.

Alongside evidence for working well as part of a team, as part of demonstrating data analysis and content creation skills we are looking for candidates proficient in MS Office (notably Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with an ability to draw out and present key conclusions from their work. For Global Banking you need to be a high-performing candidate who can multi-task effectively, showcase strong time management skills, with an ability to work to defined deadlines.

Your program

On this internship, you’ll be a real part of the team, working with our experts and learning about the industry, our clients, our firm and a specific area of it. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to develop new skills and make contacts. And if you impress us, we might invite you to join our Graduate Talent Program once you’ve graduated.
