Department and Team Culture

Compliance Risk Management is a team of two engaged in ensuring that the obligations, external and internal, of the firm, its business units and their supporting functions, and the employees of these teams, are met. To execute this programme, we review the design of the controls and their operating effectiveness.

The nature of the work requires someone curious about what goes on behind the scenes, able and happy to engage colleagues / stakeholders on his / her own, manage a work load, pay attention to detail and make observations.

The Compliance team is an experienced one and provides a warm, welcoming and cooperative environment. The team is enthusiastic and eager to work with colleagues in business lines and support functions and make sure the controls are fit for purpose and performed effectively.

What will your responsibilities look like?

The team’s priorities this year are the prevention of financial crime, whether by clients or our own employees, so risks like money laundering, sanctions busting, fraud and activities that put the integrity of financial markets / welfare of clients at risk.

We are particularly keen to engage an intern to assist with fact finding, for example engaging team managers on how they manage risks like fraud (client and employee), market abuse, and treating customers fairly, and review the materials provided by team managers to evidence adherence with regulations.

What are we looking for?

  •  Penultimate year undergraduate student (studying a relevant degree)
    •    Enthusiastic individuals with contemporary values
    •    A motivated interest in Financial Services
    •    Ability to communicate clearly and comprehensively with a variety of audiences
    •    Solid IT skills; proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    •    Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships
    •    Excellent collaboration skills
    •    Effective at following instructions

Compliance Risk Management is not looking for someone conversant with financial services / banking regulations and does not expect one, either. What we are looking is for someone interested in business and finance and what makes firms and their people tick, who has a sense of curiosity and is willing to muck in.
