About The Investment Counsellor Group
The ICG is responsible for managing Orbis’ institutional client and consultant relationships. The ICG comprises regional teams who focus on their respective markets, and a Global team who service clients across all regions. The Global ICG team, primarily based in London and Vancouver, work closely with relevant stakeholders across the business and are responsible for delivering key communication materials on various investment and firm-related topics that can be consumed by clients globally.
The work of individual members of the Global ICG in London, a team of around 10 people, varies but can include: responding to institutional client queries on the firm, funds, and stocks; working alongside our investment team to produce presentation materials and analysis on current investment topics; and maintaining and developing client content notes. The team has a proactive approach, is resilient and flexible to meet changing priorities, and has an interest in investments. Like the work, the skills of the ICG varies, with team members’ degrees ranging from accounting to professional writing.
What will your responsibilities be?

What does a career in the ICG look like?
If you excel during the placement, we will discuss the options available to join Orbis permanently (after graduation for industrial placement students). The ICG offers considerable scope for development and growth, with roles tailored to each team member’s interests, strengths and the firm’s needs. For example, responsibilities in the team include, but are not limited to:
We are a global firm with offices across eight countries, over 400 employees and more than $30 billion in assets under management. But those numbers don’t define Orbis. It’s our values, how we do things day-by-day, and how we add value for our clients that define us.
Our investment philosophy is fundamental, long-term and contrarian. As contrarian investors, we aim to take a different perspective, and this filters into everything we do. To invest differently, you need to think differently. This is encouraged by having teams of people with different backgrounds, experiences and ways of thinking.
