Profile Summary
The European Corporate Finance Department is the Client Coverage and Origination team for European Corporate and Financial Institutions clients in EMEA, and is responsible for the client management of over 350 global names.

The ECFD Coverage Associate Team is the team giving in-depth business support to the six Industry Teams in ECFD Coverage. The team provides a highly flexible level of support across the business by undertaking a breadth and depth of activity encompassing client management, business development and marketing, deal origination and reporting. It is the perfect host team for our interns as it will enable them to work with, and be supported by, a cohort of multi-disciplined, highly trained, technically-gifted professionals.

Our interns will follow a structured programme of learning and development incorporating key technical skills, industry and client knowledge, product understanding, risk and conduct awareness and personal skills. This learning will be undertaken whilst also building knowledge and understanding of Mizuho, and the culture and behaviours that underpin the organisation.

Our interns will be:

  •  Proactively participating in client relationship management and origination, working closely with the portfolio Relationship Managers. Industries include Energy, Utilities, Consumer, Healthcare, Technology, Services, Financial Institutions, Transport and Industrials.
    •    Supporting client engagement and business management activities and assisting in the preparation of internal briefing papers and memos, client account plans, client relationship return models, high quality presentation materials and pitchbooks and financial analysis to support marketing activity and credit applications for new transactions.
    •    Assisting in the maintenance and input of client activity data and pipeline items into the client relationship management system, and using the system to prepare analysis and reports.
    •    Gaining a holistic understanding of ECFD’s business and services, including our credit & rating related functions and our Strategic Solutions Group.
    •    Developing a network across the organisation; building relationships that enhance knowledge and understanding.
    •    Communicating with confidence and demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
    •    Demonstrating a desire to learn and gain a breadth of knowledge and understanding

The Internship programme is a 10 week programme starting in June 2024.  The aim is that successful interns will be offered a permanent position on the 2025 Mizuho Graduate Programme (commencing September 2025).

Candidates must be in their penultimate year of undergraduate study and be available to start full-time employment from September 2025 and have the permanent right to work in the UK.
