The Team:

The Risk teams provide direct support to the lines of business and are responsible for establishing risk management policies, limits, standards, controls, metrics and thresholds within the defined corporate standards. They also set enterprise policies, programs and standards; assess program adherence; and provide enterprise level risk oversight, reporting and monitoring for systemic risk issues.

Programme Overview

Global Risk Management is responsible for protecting the company through independent, objective oversight of risk, we effectively manage risk and reward for each of the company’s major lines of business.

Training and Development

Your training and development is our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the programme in addition to on the job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout.

As a Summer analyst, you will be provided with the opportunity to work on various tasks necessary for the management of market, financial, compliance, operational enterprise risks and other types of risk. You will also have the opportunity to gain exposure to products traded, including credit products, interest rates, foreign exchange, equities and commodities, together, with a wide range of derivative products.

Responsibilities:

As a summer analyst, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the lines of business to establish risk management policies, limits, standards, controls, metrics and thresholds, with the defined corporate standards
  • Working with Risk Managers manage the company’s market risk exposures arising from its trading operations
  • Work on value at risk, stress and various other risk metrics used in the management of the trading business, together with ad-hoc qualitative and quantitative risk assessments
  • Promoting a culture across the company where risk management is embraced as vital to achieving responsible growth
  • Deliver results in an ever-changing dynamic environment
  • Reviewing and approving complex transactions
  • Advising on regulatory interpretations
  • Providing training, assessing regulatory developments, and implementing policies

Eligibility

  • Candidates are required to be in their penultimate year of study pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university
  • On track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification with graduation between September 2024 – June 2025

  • Display clear motivation for exploring a Risk career within financial services
  • Demonstrate capacity for innovative and critical thinking, and strong problem solving
  • Demonstrate effective and impactful communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with, and influence a variety of people
  • Display evidence of strong teamwork, leadership, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is a pre-requisite
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethics by earning other’s trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions

Desired:

  • Exposure to and/or experience of research & Data analysis
  • Exposure to and/or experience of engineering & Process Design
  • Proficiency in Excel, SAS, SQL
