The team:

Leveraged Finance, as part of the broad Global Capital Markets division, involves structuring and arranging loans and debt securities for companies with non-investment grade credit ratings to support acquisitions, leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations. Our Leveraged Finance team works closely with large corporate companies and Private Equity firms to navigate Leveraged Finance market, ensuring the seamless integration of financing strategies and the achievement of our clients’ strategic objectives.

Programme Overview

As an Off-Cycle Analyst in our Leveraged Finance team, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial analysis, credit assessment and deal execution. You will work closely with senior team members and collaborate with sector teams to support in conducting due diligence, preparing financial models and investment committee memos, analyzing companies’ capital structure, and contributing to the overall success of financing transactions. You will also develop a strong understanding of market fundamentals and learn how to structure, model, negotiate and manage complex and fast-paced financing processes.

Training and Development

Your training and development are our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the programme in addition to on-the-job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout.

Responsibilities:

As an Off-Cycle Analyst, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with deal origination and execution on a range of transactions across industries / sectors, including Leveraged Buyouts by private equity or strategic clients, re-financings of existing sub-investment grade issuers, and stressed & distressed re-capitalisations
  • Work on a large number of live transactions and benefit from direct exposure to clients throughout the execution process delivering financing solutions through Leveraged Finance products (leveraged loans, high yield bonds, bridge loans, etc.)
  • Potential to work with clients across sub-investment grade EMEA corporates (Dufry, ECI, VirginMedia/O2, Jaguar Land Rover as example) as well as top private equity firms such as Blackstone, CVC, EQT, KKR in relation to well-telegraphed acquisition financings such as Morrison, Twitter and Ceramtec
  • Work closely with Investment Banking and Sales & Trading teams in the context of live transactions and origination effort

Eligibility

  • Candidates are required to be in their penultimate year of study pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university. If in your final undergraduate year with a plan to complete a masters after, you must be able to provide proof of this to be classified in your penultimate year of study.
  • On track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent)
  • Must be available to join the programme from January/February 2024
  • Our Off-Cycle Internships are 3 to 6 month programmes for penultimate year undergraduate students or final year undergraduate students who are available to join our full time graduate programme in 2025

What we are looking for

Essential:

  • Fluency in English is essential for all roles and a second European language may also be required for some roles
  • Solid financial analysis skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • A genuine interest in the financial markets

Desired:

  • Teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills, plus creativity are key qualities, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and interact with a variety of people
  • Applications are accepted from a diverse range of degree disciplines such as the arts and humanities, with a preference for numerically focused subjects such as economics and mathematics
