GLOBΛL BΛNKING & MΛЯKΞTS SPЯING INSIGHT PЯOGЯΛMMΞ 2023-2024 (ΞUЯOPΞ – UK – LONDON)

Our UK Global Banking & Market’s Insights programmes are designed for university students who are studying any degree discipline and keen to learn more about the world of financial services and banking. Specifically, they will teach you how to apply the skills gained at university to the world of investment banking, as well as help demystify the many career opportunities that exist ahead.

We encourage you to apply for our Insight programmes as soon as possible as they are very popular. We recruit on a rolling basis and may close applications before the advertised date if all vacancies are filled.

Overview

We offer two Insight programmes in the UK – the Spring Insight Programme (April) and the Graduate Insight Programme (September). During both of these four-day programmes, we will give you a taste of life in a dynamic and diverse global bank, showing you what it’s like to work in the exciting areas of our Global Banking & Markets business.

What you can expect

During an Insight programme, you can discover where your skills and passions fit best by immersing yourself in some hands-on tasks, interactive learning sessions, skills workshops, sales and trading games, and work shadowing. You will hear from senior leaders and graduates from core business areas within Global Banking & Markets. You will also get an insight into how we work in each area, from the importance of teamwork, resilience and communication skills needed to build client relationships, to the in-depth understanding of analysis and modelling needed to interpret market data for our clients.

You’ll also experience our culture first-hand and learn about key areas that make HSBC unique, such as our global strategy, our Employee Resource Groups, our ESG goals, and above all, our people.

Who do our programmes suit?

To be considered for an Insight programme, we’re looking for the following individuals who are:

  • Inquisitive learners. Being able to ask questions shows that you are willing to learn, so we are looking for those who are hungry for knowledge and a holistic experience of the business
  • Diverse thinkers. During the programme, we will invite you to get involved in a range of activities. You should be keen to share ideas, bringing a fresh outlook to each task
  • Supportive communicators. We will introduce you to lots of new people during your time with us. Having a collaborative attitude will help you to solve problems quickly as a team and start to build a network of peers who are there to support you, and be supported too
  • Opportunity takers. We accept new challenges every day and we want you to do the same. You should volunteer for any tasks available to you during this programme to get a real taste of life at HSBC

UK Spring Insight Programme

This programme is for first year or second year university students keen to gain exposure to our industry and learn more about our company culture. You will understand more about the various career paths within the investment banking industry and learn about the benefits of working in an international bank. This four-day insight programme will also allow you to meet and interact with an array of HSBC colleagues who will share their career journey and answer any questions you may have.

The Spring Insight Programme held in April, is designed as a fast-track route for a placement on our Global Banking & Markets Summer Internships, which run from June to September in the following year. Our Summer Internships, in turn, form a direct pipeline for placements on to our Global Banking & Markets Global Graduate Programmes the year after that.
