Careers

LCP is an award-winning actuarial and analytics consultancy providing advice on energy, pensions, investments, employee benefits, insurance and health.

Are you looking to embark upon your career as an actuary in the exciting, fast-changing world of Pensions Actuarial? If so, then you have come to the right place!

What will you be doing?

The Pensions Actuarial department specialises in advising trustees and employers on their pension arrangements – valuing accumulated pension commitments and helping them define and execute a pensions strategy tailored to their unique circumstances.  We are also market leaders in the pension scheme de-risking space, working closely with our Investment Consulting colleagues.

As a summer intern, you will be given upfront training to give you an understanding of the work we do, as well as in softer skills such as presentation training.  Alongside this training you will be given opportunities to get involved in a range of client work – gaining an insight into the tools and models we use to help clients and the way in which we interact with clients as good consultants.

What’s in it for you?

As well as joining a fun, collaborative, people orientated organisation where your personal and professional skills will be developed to make you the best you can be, we offer an attractive benefits package designed to promote your overall wellbeing so that you are able to perform to your full potential both in and out of work.

We continuously strive to build an inclusive workplace where all forms of diversity are valued, including age, background, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, race, religion or sexual orientation.

Whilst we have A-level grade requirements as set out above, we think it is very important to consider academic results in the context in which they were achieved – so as to give everyone a fair chance. This is why we have introduced a contextualised grading platform. Contextualised grading considers factors such as school and college performance, as well as personal circumstances, giving us a better indication of your potential. To find out more, please click here: https://realrating.co.uk/

Within your application, you will be provided with a link to the REALRating Platform to complete if you feel it is appropriate to you.

Timescales and selection process

  • 12 September 2022: Applications open for our 2023 internship roles

  • From October 2022: Video interviews or online Numerical Testing (depending on the department you have applied for) will commence
  • November – March 2023: Assessment Centres take place
  • 13 February 2023: Closing date for applications

Competition for places on our programme is high and we recruit on a rolling basis, therefore we encourage early applications to avoid disappointment.

Our Assessment Centres usually involve:

  • Opportunities to meet a range of people at LCP

We will be in touch shortly after the assessment centre to let you know your outcome and offer feedback.

About LCP

We love what we do and it shows. We help our clients make good decisions based on insightful analysis, industry expertise, and game-changing technology.

We are a true partnership – both in our corporate structure and our relationships, and clients tell us we are an extension of their team. We focus our efforts on making sure that every client gets the right advice for their own unique circumstances. Because we are independent, we don’t have a stake in recommending any specific solutions, so clients can trust our advice implicitly.

We build longstanding relationships with our clients, who tend to have worked with us for many years, because we believe that is the best way to build consistency and trust.

We believe that our biggest strength is our people – and client feedback tells us the same. We are home to talented, well-recognised industry experts, and we are committed to ensuring a bright and interesting future for our gifted group of graduates, analysts, consultants and principals, to join our ever-growing partnership. That means that we need to keep developing our business.

Alongside our traditional service development activity, our internal entrepreneur programme helps us to find the best business development ideas from across our people, and make them a reality. So, while we may be best known for our market-leading advice in pensions and investment, we have a reputation for excellence in a wide range of growth areas, including insurance, energy and technology.

We believe that technology has the power to put control back into our clients’ hands, by making sure they always have the information they need in real-time to evaluate any advice. That is why we build our own tools in-house, with programmers sitting alongside our industry experts to make sure that anything we build is designed primarily with our clients’ needs in mind.
