Mizuho Bank, Ltd. London Branch (MHBK), the UK branch of the Japanese headquartered Mizuho Bank, Ltd. Mizuho Bank, Ltd. London Branch (MHBK) is the largest of Mizuho Bank’s offices in EMEA with approximately 900 employees. As such, it co-ordinates activities and provides support to other offices in the region. It provides an extensive range of corporate lending and deposit-taking activities. Particular strengths include leveraged, structured, asset-based, trade and project finance. These activities are supported and complemented by a sophisticated treasury operation.

Finance
Under project Shard, the consolidated Mizuho Finance team provides support to both MHI and MHBK, encompassing a wide spectrum of clients including the Board and its Sub-Committees, MHSC (as the Shareholder), Senior Management and the business lines. It fulfils the role and responsibility of providing internal and external financial measurement and reporting on business performance to management and all areas of the global organisation.

The Finance Dept. comprises 4 specialist teams:

  1. The Financial Reporting Team produces management accounting information to aid the efficient and effective operation of the business and leads the annual business planning process, coordinates the external audit and produces the published accounts.
  2. The Product Control/Product Accounting area is responsible for the main financial reporting and control functions relating to the trading elements of MHI, including the valuation of the Company’s Balance Sheet.  In this capacity it works closely with the business and Risk Management department both in London and Tokyo.
  3. The Regulatory Reporting Team is responsible for calculating, monitoring and reporting regulatory capital and liquidity to Senior Management, the business and respective regulatory bodies in the areas the company operates.
  4. The Tax function is responsible for tax policy, compliance, the management of the company’s tax affairs and interaction with tax authorities.
    5. The Procurement and Accounts Payable teams are responsible for negotiation of the company’s third party contract spend, in addition to the processing of much of the company’s non-trading related cashflows.

Our interns will gain experience across the intra-Finance divisions over a 10 week period with the potential to being offered a position on the Mizuho 2024 Graduate Programme, commencing September 2024.

Applicants to the Mizuho 2023 Intern Programme will ideally be in their penultimate year of undergraduate study and be available for permanent employment from September 2024. (Please note we have now filled all places on our Mizuho 2022 Graduate programme).
