INSIGHT PЯOGЯΛMMΞ

Savills Insight demonstrates how we work, and what real estate means. It is a valuable chance for 1st year undergraduate students considering property amongst their options for a career, and especially to those who think Savills could be the employer of choice for them. Insight is also a great way to strengthen an application for our summer scheme.

Applications close at 8am on 27th February 2023

The Insight Programme will take place from the 3rd – 6th April 2023

Savills ‘Insight’ is an opportunity for first year students to shadow a Savills graduate for one week to learn about one of the following disciplines.

Across the programme, students during the week will undertake placements in our surveying (commercial, development, residential, affordable housing, operational capital markets), rural, building surveying, food & farming, forestry, sustainability, energy, environment and infrastructure and town planning teams.

Our aim is to provide a taste of the work of Savills graduates and show how the property industry works. During a placement we will offer the opportunity to attend virtual departmental talks to learn about other areas of the business, attend social events and meet directors from across Savills.

Savills Insight demonstrates how we work, and what real estate means. It is a valuable chance for students considering property amongst their options for a career, and especially to those who think Savills could be the employer of choice for them. Insight is also a great way to strengthen an application for our summer scheme (open to second year cognate and non-cognate students and third year non-cognate students) and the graduate programme (open to final year students and masters students).

THE DIVISION

  • SURVEYING COMMERCIAL, RESIDENTIAL AND DEVELOPMENT (SURVEYING)

This year we have decided to combine Commercial, Residential and Development applications, as we had many people apply for all three and not being sure which to choose at this stage. We will have one application for multiple teams and we will assign candidates to teams, based on thier application.

  • PLANNING (London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Reading)

With nearly 300 planners across the UK, we are the largest planning department in any mainstream real estate practice with a reputation for success and professionalism. We work with all types of property, but have specialisms in urban mixed use, housing, retail, major sports venues, energy, master planning, urban design, environmental impact assessment, community engagement, heritage and Section 106 agreements/Community Infrastructure Levy.

We negotiate planning permissions for everything from major urban regeneration schemes to modest domestic extensions. Our department consists of planners skilled in assembling evidence and building a case to achieve planning permission from local authorities, planning inspectors and government ministers.

  • URBAN DESIGN (SOUTHAMPTON)

The Urban Design team work on multi-disciplinary projects covering urban regeneration projects, development master plans, urban extensions, new settlements, strategic land promotions and urban design advice. The team produce site and place making assessments, architectural designs, guides and codes, public consultation, and masterplan feasibility studies. No day is the same.

Please note that the Urban Design role is based in Southampton.

  • BUILDING AND PROJECT CONSULTANCY

Our building and project consultancy service provides bespoke specialist solutions that can be applied across all technical aspects of acquisitions, development, ownership, occupation and disposal of property assets.

More than 180 of our consultants advise on buildings and projects throughout the UK with regional offices in England and Scotland (across 13 offices) and further resource for coverage throughout Europe (across 70 offices).   In London our teams specialise out into professional services and project management teams, whereas in our regional offices we provide the wider service out of a single team.

  • RURAL

From managing and running assets, to helping clients buy, sell, let or rent rural property and offering succession planning advice, we cover all aspects of services within this sector.

Whether advising on 50 or 50,000 acres, we combine local knowledge and specialist expertise with the renowned capabilities of the Savills research department. We measure our performance via benchmarking reports, adding a layer of accountability and clarity. This combination gives every client access to relevant and extensive support in optimising rural property assets.

Please note that there are many different teams and locations available.

  • ENVIRONMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Savills is the UK’s leading real estate service provider. We work with property of all types, ranging from the world’s most iconic rural estates through to the country’s leading urban developments and property portfolios. Our clients come from both the public and private sectors and we work with organisations of all sizes.

Savills Environment and Infrastructure is a new department that is focused on environmental impact and sustainability, providing a range of specialist consultancy services. We work closely with Savills Earth which brings together over 100 professionals from across our business and includes experts from Engineering & Design Consultancy, Property Management, Energy Consultancy, Energy Procurement, Environmental Economics and Research.

Our network of offices covers all regions ofthe UK including the most recent addition in Brighton, which we are now looking to expand, as well as our presence in Leeds and Manchester. In all of our key regional offices, the Planning and Environmental teams operate alongside other property advisory services allowing cross disciplinary work on a wide variety of projects. As part of our environmental capability, we are now seeking to expand our environmental air quality, acoustics and health/social impact teams under the respective team leaders, including a yearly intake of graduates.

  • SUSTAINABILITY

With 80 energy and sustainability consultants operating across a UK network, Savills Energy and Sustainability Hub is quickly developing into the largest department in any mainstream real estate practice with a reputation for success and professionalism. Our sustainability services include, but are not limited to; creating and implementing ESG and sustainability strategies at organisational and asset level, environmental management and compliance (ISO14001), building certifications (BREEAM, SKA), sustainability benchmarking and reporting (GRESB, CDP, SBTi), social value assessments, health and wellbeing and strategic waste and resource support.

  • ENERGY (Edinburgh)

With 80 energy and sustainability consultants operating across a UK network, Savills Energy and Sustainability Hub is quickly developing into the largest zero carbon department in any mainstream real estate practice with a reputation for success and professionalism. Our energy services include, but are not limited to; feasibility studies, energy audits due diligence on proposed and operational sites, valuations of energy assets, transactions of energy assets, negotiating commercial contracts between different parties (Lease Agreements, Energy Supply Agreements, etc) and strategic advice on energy infrastructure.

As an Energy Team within a real estate company our USP is understanding how land and property is used, the value that is attributed to real estate and how low carbon energy solutions can enhance property values to justify investment in net zero solutions.  It is often the case that the best engineering solution for energy infrastructure is not the best property solution for the landlord or occupiers.  As such, it is within this space that the Savills Energy Team looks to operate in partnership with architects, planners, developers, funders and specialist engineering design firms to find net zero solutions that improve the social aspects of a project and enhance property values.
