Business Support Analyst – Chief Administration Office (CAO)

Level 3 Risk & Compliance Apprenticeship programme

This is an exciting new opportunity within our Chief Administration Office (CAO), Compliance Operational team which, for the right candidates, is a fast track pathway to a long and varied career within the Business Management space. This is an Apprenticeship opportunity which will see the successful candidates join on an 18-month Level 3 Apprenticeship programme.

Compliance is a global function that brings together all aspects of regulatory and financial crime compliance. Acting as risk stewards, and supported by a range of specialist teams, we work together with the business and leverage advanced technology to help HSBC navigate a complex regulatory landscape and embed a sustainable approach to compliance risk management that supports safe growth. Compliance aspires to continuously raise the bar and set leading standards across the industry to help safeguard its customers and the communities within which it operates.

This role will support and work with the CAO team to understand the end to end network of stakeholders that we connect with regularly and ensuring we have a cohesive understanding of the standardised processes, practices and deliverables to ensure that the Compliance global function operates much more efficiently and effectively.

We are currently seeking an individual to join this team as a Business Support Analyst.

The individual will be required to share best practices and learnings with the CAO leads, connect and discuss problems and potential solutions with multiple stakeholders in a positive manner to help bring together a holistic picture as to how the CAO community can work together in a more cohesive manner.  Functional areas of responsibility include:

  • Business and Financial Management
    • Understanding of monthly deliverables
    • Key stakeholders
    • Systems used for accurate financial reporting
    • Grasping what the Annual Operating Plan (Budget) process is and what it enables the function to do
  • People and Resourcing
    • Learn about headcount management including governance of resourcing
    • Systems for managing headcount and approvals
    • Understanding how the approval process works and the network of stakeholders needed to progress
    • Help and assist with building out Functional Blueprints for the function
  • Governance and business support / administration
    • Build out an inventory of deliverables across each functional area to see where potential duplication is occurring
    • Propose ideas where automation can help streamline monthly activities

Key elements of the role include;

  • Supporting the team with day to day tasks
  • Conduct related queries
  • Ensure the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart of everything we do, both personally and as an organisation.
  • Managing and mitigating operational risks in their day to day operations.
  • Working with Compliance teams to gain an understanding of the Conduct challenges within their respective areas.
  • This will be achieved by consistently displaying the behaviours that form part of the HSBC Values and culture and adhering to HSBC risk policies and procedures, including notification and escalation of any concerns and taking required action in relation to points raised by audit and/or external regulators.

Through the implementation the Global AML, Sanctions , Fraud and ABC Policies, supporting Guidance, and Line of Business Procedures the jobholder will make informed decisions in accordance with the core principles of HSBC’s Compliance.The job holder will continually reassess the operational risks inherent within the business.

Qualifications

This is an entry level role and the focus of the jobholder will be to learn all skills required to grow their career in Compliance. Full support will be provided, but to be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Curiosity, to go beyond what’s obvious and ask the questions
  • Passion to work with people and numbers
  • Enthusiasm and a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • A passion for driving the right conduct outcomes for our customers
  • Capable of picking up, and applying, new ideas/concepts quickly
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent inter-personal, customer service and communication skills – written and verbal
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • A motivated self-starter who has the ability to work effectively alone and under pressure
  • Adaptability and flexibility
  • Good PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft software
  • 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at 4/C or above, including Maths and English. As per the Government Apprenticeship guidelines, Apprentices need to have been a resident in the UK for the last 3 consecutive years before the start of the apprenticeship.

The base location for this role is London, but applicants from across the UK will be considered.
