New Business Apprenticeship
Application Deadline: 31-Mar-2021
Did you know you don’t have to complete an internship to work in financial services? UBS’s Apprenticeship program provides ambitious and talented individuals with an alternative route to a career in financial services. You’ll earn a salary working in the exciting and fast-paced environment of investment banking, whilst completing training for a recognized qualification offering a fee-free on-the-job education alternative to the traditional route.
Our apprentices will assist the teams in day-to-day operations, helping to provide information for decision-making purposes including analysis and concepts, reports and proposals, and minutes from meetings, conferences and events. Assist in preparing communications for and reporting to internal stakeholders, and give visibility and status updates on a regular basis to senior management.
There is also an opportunity to learn more about the financial markets and the wider Group Risk Control business through business teach-ins and through the internal network you will develop.
You’ll be joining a diverse and dynamic team in Group Risk Control You’ll help us protect our reputation, financial health and long-term interests by helping us identify, measure and control risks. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate closely with the other team members and Group Risk Control stakeholders to actively manage day-to-day activities and see that delivery accountability is in place.
You need to have completed your A-levels or equivalent by September 2021 and achieved BBC along with a level 5/6 in English Language and Maths GCSE. It doesn’t matter what you’re studying. (Really, it doesn’t.) But we’d like to see evidence that you can:
• analyze a problem, take a view and come to a decision
• plan, organize and communicate well
• make things happen
• stick with a task
• work in a team
• come up with ideas
Perhaps you’ve organized a fundraising event or taken part in team sports? Or persevered and passed an exam in a subject you found challenging? Think about how things you’ve achieved match the skills we’re after.
You’ll be joining us on a 4 year degree apprenticeship. The first stage of your apprenticeship is a Level 4 Investment Operations Specialist apprenticeship, and on completion , you’ll then progress onto a Level 6 Financial Services Professional apprenticeship, inclusive of the industry recognised Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment Diploma in Investment Operations, as the final stage of the degree apprenticeship, with the potential to gain a BSc (Hons) degree.
What you could go on to do
Your career development and professional qualifications don’t stop after the apprenticeship. Focused and determined individuals will be able to attain further qualifications – and when your training is complete, you will have the opportunity to broaden expertise further by expanding your knowledge across different Group Risk Control and GCOO service lines.
How you will be supported
This is an opportunity to work alongside some of the best people in the financial services industry with high visibility towards the bank’s senior management. You’ll be supported by your team, your line manager, team, mentor and HR. Plus, there are some excellent additional training programmes, through training partner University of Exeter and the internal UBS University.
