Job Description

News UK is a company full of talented, dedicated and creative people. We are an ambitious and ever-growing organisation with a passion for storytelling, capturing moments, meaning and magic to make sense of the world. Our newspapers reach more than 30 million people each week and include The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times. News UK is also home to Wireless, a leading UK and Irish media company boasting independent local and national radio stations.

The Fifth is a creative influencer marketing agency owned by News UK. We value the voices that influence culture and put social media content creators at the heart of our brand client’s advertising. Our aim is to professionalise the space, build real connections with creators and help them tell stories that deliver measurable impact for brands. Last year, we launched a talent agency called The Fifth Talent which represents 30 x talent and content creators exclusively.

Being an Apprentice at The Fifth… you will spend your first 6 months getting to know how the whole agency works, joining each of the key departments that make up the agency including Creative, Sales, Talent and Campaigns. This will enable you to learn how each department works together and give you a taste of the different roles that people do at an agency like The Fifth.

You will have a mentor who works at The Fifth who will support you and help guide you through the process as you meet different members of the team and work in each department. You will be able to meet with your mentor regularly, asking advice and for help if you need it.

After the first 6 months, you will have a good understanding of how the agency works and what aspects of the different roles you enjoy or are interested in. At this point, you will join the Talent Research team and spend the rest of your Apprenticeship specialising in this area, building on your experience and knowledge and gaining skills that you can include on your CV. The senior Talent Researcher will become your line manager, however you will still be encouraged to check in with your mentor from time to time to ensure you have the support you need to be successful in your role.

The Team: We are a team of 22 people so you will quickly get to know all of us. We are very collaborative and enjoy working together on projects. We support one another and call ourselves The Fifth Family. You will be made to feel welcome by the team and you will be encouraged to be your true authentic self. We want to stand out as an agency for doing things differently, for being professional and hard working, but for having fun while doing it.

Your Role: After your first six months, you will join the Talent Research team as a Junior Talent Researcher. In this role you will support the other Talent Researchers to find new and emerging influencers and content creators on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter etc who match the particular requirements that a client is looking for (eg: looking for talent who create vegan recipes, or write poetry, or are into street dance etc).

Day to day:

  • Spend time on social media looking for new and emerging creators and influencers
  • Use our tools to look at influencers’ audiences to see if they match the target audience the brand wants to reach (eg young people aged 18-24 based in the UK)
  • Suggest influencers and creators for particular brands and their campaigns
  • Find and research new social media trends
  • Email and meet influencers and their agents to discuss potential campaigns
  • Keep the Talent Research database up to date with new influencers that you and the team find adding their rates and any other notes or information needed.

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Someone who LOVES social media and follows lots of content creators
  • Excited to learn about how social media and advertising works
  • Creative and inquisitive as a person
  • A positive, can-do attitude with lots of energy and enthusiasm
  • Someone who is interested in other cultures and wants to learn about them
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Good presentation and communication skills
